One of our researchers, Tim Hallyburton, has won two awards at this year's ICDAR.

We are delighted to announce that Tim Hallyburton received two awards at ICDAR 2026, recognising both his research contributions and his doctoral work.

His paper “Reconstruction Error Ratios for Prototype-Anchored Unsupervised Learning in Optical Character Recognition”, co-authored with A. Scius-Bertrand, A. Neto, A. Fischer, and G. Fink, received the Best Paper Award at the HIP workshop. The work presents a novel approach to unsupervised learning for optical character recognition based on reconstruction error ratios and prototype-anchored representations.

In addition, Tim received the ICDAR Doctoral Consortium Award, further recognising the quality and potential of his doctoral research.

Congratulations to Tim and all co-authors on these achievements!
